I know everyone has a different approach and even a different opinion it seems about internet marketing. I have been doing internet marketing since before most people even had home computers let alone actual internet access. Over the years internet marketing has changed.

Now that I am officially back in network marketing and also utilizing my internet marketing skills I have seen some things that work well for me as far as getting more exposure and web traffic. The biggest one is actually signature ads. I have to admit that came to me as quite a surprise how much traffic I get to my website from forums.

I am a strong believer in the fact that blogs are a great way to connect with people as well.

I would love to hear from other people what they feel is worth putting efforts into.

Hi Sheri,

I agree with what you have stated above with signature ads. Also by having a duplicatable system that everyone can utilize and have success is an important key to someone's success.

I personally have been using an ebook that provides readers value and understanding to their online frustrations. It is generic so no companies or products are mentioned. Some people don't like to hear the truth and others are grateful to have come across a group that tells it like it is. You can read the ebook from my profile.

I personally advertise online at no cost. Once I got burned to 25K and promised I would NEVER buy advertising again. So I listened and learned how to build an International Organization on FREE advertising. Traffic Exchangs work well and so does Article writing and submitting. I am sure there are others who can contribute to what is working for them.

See alot of stuff works, the real key here is to show people how to get some of this stuff set up. People can listen to someone talk about how to advertise online, but unless they take ACTION it will never work for them.

Hope this helps and I look forward to hearing what is working for others as well.

Remember the key is to just be yourself and become a GOOD Listener to what your Prospects wants. Then provide it for them.

thanks for starting this topic. I think there is always room for understanding and applying what works. I have just started a campaign and am looking for just this topic. I also get that for some people it is tough to give up the goods on what works, however I believe in what goes around...... Right now I am using sig files, posting to classified ads, and doing like I am doing now, posting to forums. My goal is 5 posts a day to 10 forums. However that being said I want to make sure there is content that goes with the conversation, not just empty, one line \replies.

My goal is to do it all "Free" just spending my time, vs money. However if I find something that really gets results consistently I would pay for it. Is it out there?

One by product of my efforts so far is my website got indexed in google and yahoo without any more work on my part. I set up a google alerts for my website and in less than a week, maybe in 3 days it was indexed. I need to get it keyword rich now so it shows up in searches for HHB, W@H, etc. Oh MSN is not wanting to see it yet and I thrid to put it in by hand, no luck yet

I agree. People who know what is working online don't always reveal what they know. If you think about it, it makes a lot of sense. BUT anyone who is determined to learn this stuff can learn it elsewhere.

That is why I wanted to start this thread because I do know a good bit about internet marketing.

It sounds like you already have a great start.

If you do a youtube search for "Eben Pagen" and watch his videos he flat out states to give away your very best material and then people we buy from you want to knowmore.
He has gone from ZERO to over $20,000,000 in 6 years. I am listening....

What I was saying is that it can easily take up to 9 months to realize where you are going to fall into place into the search engine results (ranking). It is not necessarily an overnight thing. The more people there are on the net, the more competitive the search terms become.

Now if you had unique keyword phrases that can give you an edge, but you always have to bear in mind what words you think people are going to use that would actually be looking for what you have to offer. Sometimes what we think is not what other people think.

I work with business owners to come up with their keywords and keyword phrases and sometimes they have a very skewed way of thinking, but then other times I meet people who definitely know what they are doing.

I had not heard the term "serp's" yes I agree it can take some time to make our self known in the search engines. And thinking like a prospect is what it all comes down to. What are they thinking, what do they want, what are they looking for. What problem do they have and can what I have to offer be a partial or full solution for them. Or will it just make them feel better and people will spend a lot of time, energy and money on a diversion, which in and of it's self is a solution.

I am sure there must be at least one book that goes in depth to understanding the mind of a prospect or customer. And plenty more that cover it in a part or full chapter.

I watched the 3 main videos he has up again last night and I get more and more each time. Last night- late- I was looking at just how to apply the principles to my current marketing efforts, At first I had remembered them to be pretty much digital product specific, my eyes were opened to new possibilities afterwards.

I started a new group around these videos, to see just where and how we might apply them. I invite you( and everyone else on this site) to join this group. I know It will help all of us in the long run.

Hi Sheri, while it is true that some methods in use today can take up to 9 months to show traffic results from the search engines, I have found a short cut that gets me top search engine traffic in days!

I use SEO Optimized press releases and articles. These are like scouts, plying the Internet, finding and directing traffic back to my website. Getting top ranking (1st or 2nd Page!) on search engines with articles has the same effect as though your website itself were in those positions, I think you would agree?

Although the rankings change constantly, when I checked 10 minutes ago, searching Yahoo for Ann Sieg's name; she did the famous 7 great lies of Network Marketing ebook, I found that my article on Ann is ranked #9 out of 1,100,000 hits. I submitted it on 10/30/07 When someone clicks on the link in my Resource Box at the end of my article for more information, they are whisked directly to my Internet Based MLM website.

On Google, if you search on Internet Based MLM, you will find me at #10 out of 2,180,000 for another article submitted on the same date. Click on the link in my Resource Box and Wala!

These articles are being picked up by publishers, bloggers webmasters and ezines around the world. One time I even found one of my articles had been translated into Chinese! Often they will be archived on websites and will continue to spawn traffic to you for years to come. You could not buy that type of exposure.

Properly optimized Press Releases always shoot to the top of the search engines fairly quickly because they are seen as newsworthy and time sensitive. They are also persistent. I still get a trickle of traffic from releases I did as long as 4 years ago.

You are right, press releases work nicely with SEO without a doubt. Matter of fact I just wrote a new press release and submitted it last night. I learned more about this a few years ago and have seen it at work. The better you are at writing, the better the chances your press release might actually get picked up by media outlets. PR Web has greatly increased their prices since I first started using them, however I have found some that are totally free that work just as well if not better than PR Web.

I have recently discovered what I believe is the future of MLM. It is Internet Based MLM!
You see, the MLM industry is mired in 1957 marketing methods, and I am being charitable.
Sticking flyers under windshields of cars in parking lots. bugging friends and family, launching into unprovoked presentations when anyone comes within 3 feet of you, etc. is what passes for marketing in most MLM companies.

When these methods, predictably, fail, the Distributor is told to buy, Hot, Fresh , Exclusive opportunity seeker leads. After spending thousands of dollars with little to show for the money and the time invested, the Distributor drops out, broke and disillusioned.

There are two major flaws with this legacy model, both fatal. Marketing efforts are directed toward the general public and there is very little return for your advertising dollars.

It is well known that 95 out of 100 people are Not going to be interested in joining an MLM company at any given time. That should come as no surprise as 99 out of 100 in the general public cannot sell and hates to be sold.

Internet Based MLM, however, uses scientific marketing methods, the first of which is to concentrate your efforts on your target market, on people who come to you looking for more information on what you do. If you were selling golf clubs, which would be the better approach? Standing in Grand Central Station in NY at rush hour and asking each commuter if they wanted to buy a set of clubs or taking a table at a golf tournament?

The second flaw, little or no return on advertising dollars, means that the Distributor is effectively spending himself out of his MLM business with each batch of Fresh, Local, Qualified leads. If the only return is someone signing up into the MLM opportunity, the Distributor is much more likely to run out of money first , because, by definition, he is not getting that many people to sign up into his opportunity.

The Internet Based MLM approach solves this dilemma with a "Self Funded Proposal." This is Geek Marketing for a system that is used by all professional marketers. With a Self Funded Proposal, your "Suspects" actually pay you to become your prospects! Let me illustrate.

You offer your target market a very low priced product or service that typically provides them information about the solution to a pressing problem. that is bugging them. Those that purchase the product or service have; One, identified themselves as someone with a real interest in solving problems in this area and, two have elevated themselves to the elite status of a prospect who has purchased a product from you! His funds help finance your marketing efforts. They are literally paying you to become your prospects!

Using this method, you even make money from those who will never join your organization, they have bought the product! The Self Funded proposal changes your advertising expenditures from a cost to a profit! Therefore, advertising can be increased without limit, growing your business exponentially and even putting some bucks in your pocket!

Of course, Internet Based MLM has many more advantages over the Olde, 1957 Brand of MLM marketing, but you get the picture I am sure.
