Another thought - there are comments added all over this site by people who see me as an opportunity first, or maybe only as an opportunity. I baulk at that here, and here I guess we have at least opted-in to a home-biz community, so should be expecting it! Imagine what that feels like to a cold contact

The basic idea of the website as a marketing tool is to put yourself in the way of the people/search engine traffic that have the problems you have the skills, information, products to solve. It's so much easier to start a relationship with a potential customer when they come to you. That other stuff is worth the time you invest.
If you're new to this you may not know that google, etc penalises duplicate websites (like the copy-cat sites from mlm companies).
